Experience time travel in the carriages of the Guatemalan Railway.

Currently, the Railway Museum is doing cultural activities (Short Trips and sharing legends of Guatemala) around our Railways.

Activities such as:
Travel on the train for 15 minutes, remembering the legends of Guatemala
Sale and tasting of Guatemalan food
Chapinas amenities such as: a Lottery game
Folkloric dances and cultural scenes from Guatemalan daily life
The Guatemalan railroad began operations in 1908 and was a crucial period for transporting cargo to the main Atlantic Ocean port, Puerto Barrios.

The Guatemalan government granted the United Fruit Company land along the main railway line, where they initially grew bananas to feed the workers building the railroad. They realized that bananas were produced at a larger size thanks to the land around the Motagua River, and thus, the Chiquita Banana export crop was born.
Years later, in the 1954s, the US Government orchestrated a plot through the CIA to prevent the Liberal Government from remaining in power..

The main products transported for export by rail were:
Banano (United Fruit Company)
Cafe (Europe)
Cardamom (Asia)
Fun fact: The varieties of Banana, Coffee, and Cardamom are not products originating from Guatemala; they were brought by the natural wealth of its lands for production. Today, these are native products recognized worldwide.
